On April 21, 2010, Midway Companies hosted this year's Meet N' Greet in their offices at CityCentre One. A tour of the offices was conducted by Carla Reyna. Our newest members, Janet Synder was there to meet her fellow SDA members as well as Tiffany Morrow with Browne Penland McGregor who also attended this event. It was their first opportunity to attend an SDA function. Tiffany Morrow brought with her, as her guest, Mr. Charles Browne, partner of her firm.
Allen Blackledge with Tribble and Stephens also attended the event and spoke with many SDA members inquiring about SDA and possibly having one of his administrative staff to look into membership.
The food was sponsored by Brio Tuscan Grille and was very much appreciated and delicious.
The Holiday Social and 2010 New Board Installation was held at The Black Labrador on December 2, 2009, with approximately twenty members attending as well as three principals. Many Certificates of Appreciation were given out that evening with Rhonda Holomb 2009 President thanking all that helped the Houston Chapter achieved all that was accomplished in 2009. Rhonda presented her speech of welcome and informed the group that attended all that the 2009 Board and Committee Members accomplished and also welcomed several past presidents that attended. The chapter was celebrating its 50th year anniversary, and the Past Presidents that attended were, Mary Roder, Renate Walker, Melodee Futch, Phyllis Boyea and Kimi Duplichan. Rhonda then presented one "Yellow Rose" award to Mary A. M. Roder for many years of service for the Houston Chapter as well as Canstruction.
One of the principals from Mitchelll Carlson Stone, Inc., John E. Stone, sworn in each of the new board members in their board role and the New Board for 2010 was properly installed.
Once all the formalities were concluded, the members enjoyed exchange of gifts by playing the "White Elephant" game. All left with high spirits and ready to begin the new year.
